-based is a suffix, kind of like -tien, for when an origin feels more like a type/modifier, instead of an origin.[1]

A suffix to add on to origins, for when it's a structure/type/etc but doesn't necessarily fit as an origin. Can even be for those who had an actual origin but later on got more members through different means, but that doesn't fit to them as an origin because they see their origin as the cause of the system in the beginning instead of the cause of individual members.

It's important, affects the system, and is part of their system structure/lore/etc but isn't necessarily an "origin".

When coining a -based term, it should have an origin to match. A based term can't exist without an origin as the other side of the metaphorical coin.[2]
