An alarach (pronounced AH-lah-rock) is a standalone layer, meta-layer, or cosmos. Although they can be grouped into layer clusters, they're typically a separate unit.

History[edit | edit source]

The term alarach comes from a word for the concept in the exosprache/intrasprache spoken by the coiner in fhaer homeworld in fhaer system. "Suniomin" is a derivation of Hurrian (an ancient language of the Middle-East) šuḫniōmīn, a neologism compound combining the words for "wall" and "land", hence "walled land", as a metaphor for the separateness alarachs experience from each other, and can be shortened to just suni.
