An aster, or backsystem is a term for any sidesystem or sidesystem-equivalent group that exists primarily or fully in backspace, or as backspaces/astrons. Asters, while generally part of a given system, do not have an intrinsic or direct connection to that system's front, or any major fronts that may exist inside the system. They function independently of these fronts, whether they are independent of the body or depend on subconscious processes, and generally may be or be seen as aloof to bodily affairs. This however may be seen as a negative stereotype by some asters and their residents.
