An auxiliary (aag·zi·lee·eh·ree) is a headmate whose role is to service the rest of the system in any way requested of them that is within their capabilities. Various tasks and responsibilities may be assigned or delegated onto them, or they may volunteer to take them. An auxiliary’s objective is to help the system however necessary to allow others to destress, take a break, etc. This role is voluntary, and the system will respect the auxiliary’s own needs and limitations. If an auxiliary is able and willing to perform something that others request of them, they will do so, as they value assisting their headmates.

Auxiliary is defined as “a person or thing that gives aid of any kind; helper.”[1]

An auxiliary is similar to an assistant, however an assistant may specialize in a specific role (e.g. protector, caretaker, etc), whereas an auxiliary may be available for all aspects of living, similar to a jack of all trades.
