A blossoming/blossomed introject is an introject who realized that they wanted to be more than what their source/canon portrayed them as, but didn't want to fully disregard their identity.

This typically involves things like improving on personality traits or trying to recover from trauma, and notably can include a denial and acceptance period.

This term can include anyone from a introject who is still mostly canon-compliant but acts a bit less like their source, all the way to a introject who, despite still holding the identity, is almost entirely different from their source.

History[edit | edit source]

The term was chosen based on the metaphor of a flower bud finally opening and revealing the "improved self" inside, similar to the use of "egg cracking" in trans and plural spaces.

This term was coined by Dovequill and the Stardust Soup System to describe their own experiences and out of reluctance to identify with the term "post-fictive", as it wasn't a perfect fit.

Related Terms[edit | edit source]

This term can be considered similar to, but distinctly separate from, being a post-fictive or post-factive.

A blossoming introject may source-detach in their process.
