Duality is a term for a headmate whose consciousness is distributed over to somas, which can perform separate actions within the headspace. One soma may be a "projection".

Extensive usage of this method may result in a new headmate.

Memory sharing may or may not be available between the somas while they are separated.

The events happening to the projector may or not be relevant to the projection.

[a designated duality headmate is eventually formed and otherwise usage of this is simply called a projection]

Headmates capable of this may be considered multisomatic. If events concerning one soma affect the other as well, this could be similar to interlaced headmates.

This is distinct from a double or dopplurganger, which describe two separate headmates who share an appearance or identity.
