An eraser headmate is one that purposely takes memories away from others, often for their protection.[1]

Erasers help to keep trauma memories from spreading between headmates by keeping them for themselves or giving them to other headmates.

They are more common with amnesiac systems, like in DID.

Erasers share common traits with other kinds of headmates, like gatekeepers and Internal Self Helpers (ISH). However, erasers have the specific role of taking existing memories away in addition to quarantining them.

Erasers may help to keep knowledge about spoilers contained.
