Exotrauma is a catch-all for traumatic experiences that did not occur in this universe/life, but still affect a person negatively. The word is a combination of the prefix exo- (meaning external) and the word trauma.[1]

This term is frequently used by fictives, factives, and walk-ins to describe their experiences, but it is not limited to them. It can also be experienced by singlets, including kin and immersive daydreamers.

Exomemories can similarly be used to describe memories that didn't occur in the context of the system's body.
