Other formsfaker (n.), fake (adj.)

Faking is the act of pretending to have an attribute or experience without actually having / experiencing it. People are often accused of faking in relation to sensitive topics or to gain access to certain communities or spaces.

In the context of plurality, especially disordered plurality and other disorders, faking is a common topic of discourse. This is especially pervasive since internal experiences are hard or impossible to prove or disprove.

Faking is a conscious and deliberate action that is distinct from misconceptions of misinterpretation of symptoms.
