Floating facets are headmates in mixed systems that present as median fragments (AKA segments). They attach themselves to partitionary headmates and essentially create small, temporary median subsystems before moving on and attaching to someone else. They often modify the behavior of the headmate they've attached to, without changing them as an individual, and may represent one or two personality traits, aesthetics, or other surface-level attributes.

Floating facets can be fableings or factlings, just like any other facets.
