Related Terms[edit | edit source]

Splitting is the formation of a new headmate under stress, usually with the new headmate splitting off an existing member.

Pluralizing is the formation of a new headmate without splitting off an existing member.

Some may consider walk-ins and headmates that come out of dormancy to be formed, since they are joining the active system, while others may not use the term to refer to a process that a headmate has existed prior to.
