A frontlocked alter or headmate is one that is unable to leave front (or is "locked in front"). This is normally for a long period of time (months to years). A frontlocked alter can rarely eventually leave front. This is not the same as frontstuck, as these alters usually cannot leave front at all or "frontlocked" when it is not used to refer to a specific system member, as other alters are able to come and go into co-front as needed.
