A little is a headmate that behaves or otherwise feels like they are a young age. This often approximately caps at age twelve, but may vary personally between systems based on their body's age.

Depending on whether a system experiences development-based internal age or metaphor-based internal age, a little may behave similarly to, feel like, or (internally) look like a child, or any combination.

"Being little" may also be used by age sliders or similar headmates that experience younger ages temporarily to refer to their regressed state.

Syskid was coined on January 13th, 2017 by the Tumblr blog Syskids.[3] The term was intended to be an alternate term to little for those uncomfortable referring to themselves as such. Though originally intended to be only for traumagenic systems, since the coiner has left the community due to realizing they were not an OSDD system, the term has become more used by other origins.

Two syskid flag sets were made by the-silent-fellowship on tumblr on December 31st 2023.[4][5]

Middle and big are other common age indicators.

Age sliding is when a headmate varies in how old they feel, often going back and forth between adult and little, but can be any ages.

If a little holds more "adult" kinds of trauma, they may use the littlex label too.
