A kuustal-maa, a Westron based Plurissprache term, is an alternate, non-ranking and non-hierarchical term for a subsystem, in the definition of any collective or system that is within a system, or whose members are not the sole inhabitants of their body. The term explicitly implies equal standing and importance to any other systems, including the entirety of everyone associated with the body (the "full" system or polyplex), as well as other kuustal-maas in the body, and those within the given kuustal-maa. Kuustal-maas can be any type or ranking of sisasystem, and the term is based on the similarly Westron term kuustal, a headmate who has a system of their own.
