prism ( n., adj.)
Applies toheadmates

A prism is a headmate who hides the system from other people and itself. A prism member tends to be fronting or co-fronting around 90% to 100% of the time. When another headmate fronts, the prism member will cover them and most often act like them without it being blending or blurring.

The prism member can be considered as a wall between headmates and the outer world, and have the sensation of playing a role.

Related Terms[edit | edit source]

Prism is similar to to term shell. However, shell is often used in a psychiatric context, to refer to median systems, or to describe a similar phenomenon related to programming.

A prism member can be considered the host of the system, and can have additional role(s).

Similar to shells, prisms may also be fragmentary and may be a part of front.
