A shell is a type of system member that is most commonly found in OSDD-1a systems, and occasionally in programmed DID/OSDD-1b systems.
This member is normally a host and is meant to hide the existence of other members from the outside world.
The shell is the member through which all other members act, front, and (possibly) blend.
The non-shell members are not as distinct as in DID, though amnesia may exist between them.
