Shiny hunting is when members of a system (usually scouts or dream-seekers) go out to find one particular system member. People who go out “shiny hunting” may be called shiny hunters. Usually, they do this to find dormant, lost, or undiscovered members. Shiny hunting may also include trying to find specific areas in the headspace, like layers, subsystems, and sidesystem, that are undiscovered.

Shiny hunting always included specifically targeting/trying to find one member or area, but more can be hunted at a time. Shiny hunters can also have a list of members or areas they want to hunt for.

This term was named after shiny hunting in Pokémon, where people go out to find rare colorations of certain Pokémon
