A supernova (pl. supernovae /-viː/ or supernovas) is a headmate that is very intricately intertwined with most, if not all, headmates within a system in one way or another. Should that headmate experience a very intense emotional breakdown, there is an extremely high chance of at least the feelings of that breakdown bleeding over into the headmates they're connected to. The risk of connected headmates also having their own breakdowns due to the emotional bleed is also quite high.

Name[edit | edit source]

"Supernova" was chosen as the term for this definition because of the sudden and powerful burst of emotion that can be emitted from the headmate at the center of these internal connections, similar to an actual supernova.

Another reason "supernova" was chosen is to make it not seem as scary as it sounds or feels in the midst of one. Though it is ultimately up to each individual's interpretation whether or not the chosen word actually does help ease the anxiety that emotional breakdowns can bring.

History[edit | edit source]

The term "supernova" was coined the day after Aria of the Hope's Legacy System had one such emotional breakdown. It had been intense enough to bleedthrough to six of the seven other headmates within their system at the time. Meteion of the same system then suggested the term on the Pluralpedia Discord the next day after thinking it over with the system as a whole. Facing no criticism for the term, Aria proceeded to create the page you see here today.
