A systems exclusionist is an individual or system that holds strict beliefs about plurality and enforces those ideas on others, often in relation to causation. They often seek to exclude other kinds of systems from general plural spaces, believe other systems are faking or mistaken as to their own identity or otherwise seek to exclude others from identifying as plural.

System excluionists are not those who believe that DID/OSDD-1 systems should have their own spaces, or that traumagenic plurality is different than other forms, but rather those who exclude others from being considered plural entirely.

Related Terms

'Gatekeeper' or 'system gatekeeper' is also used as a synonym. Gatekeeper also refers to a system role, and should be kept in mind when using it. Gatekeeper is a valid role often found in gateway systems. Despite this, some systems still do use it in this way. Whilst gatekeeper can be used to describe a similar definition as sysmed, using the term gatekeeper to describe a sysmed can be harmful towards gatekeepers.

'Sysmed' or 'sysmedicalist' is a synonym that refers in particular to systems that apply outdated and misapplied medical ideas about plurality. Sysmeds prioritize DID and OSDD-1 experiences over others, and/or do not believe in endogenic systems. They often disparage "inclusive plural spaces", including saying that DID/OSDD-1 systems don't belong within them.

'Anti-endo' (short for 'anti-endogenic') refers specifically to systems that seek to exclude endogenic systems from plural communities, often believing that trauma is a requirement to be plural.

History

The term "sysmed" is modeled after the term "transmed", as both follow the similar ideology: a certain phenomena is only valid if they fit precise medical definitions and ideal. The latter is short for "transmedicalism", and when used as a personal identifier, "transmedicalist". Though, pluralphobia did not come from transmedicalism.

Controversy

Not every system uses the term sysmed due to not wanting to compare sysmedicalism and transmedicalism. This can be due to feeling that they aren't able to make the comparison or because they want to acknowledge differences between the two ideologies and histories.

Some systems also feel it may be too close to the term "traumascum" as it was coined with a similar idea, and avoid using it.
