A thoughtform is an umbrella term for a headmate who was created in some way. It is sometimes used as an alternative term for tulpa, but can refer to other experiences.

History

The term "thoughtform" was used in Evans-Wentz's 1927 translation of the Tibetan Book of the Dead.[1]
