A thoughtform is an umbrella term for a headmate who was created in some way. It is sometimes used as an alternative term for tulpa, but can refer to other experiences.

The term "thoughtform" was used in Evans-Wentz's 1927 translation of the Tibetan Book of the Dead.[1] Its usage in modern tulpamancy spaces may originate from the Tumblr blog LivingPlural in 2012.[2]
