An understudy is a headmate that will take over fronting duties whenever others won’t or are unable to front. They are attached to the front and will often be close to the front at all times. Like a host, they find it very easy to switch into main front and unlike other headmates, they enjoy and often prefer to be in front.

Please do not use this term if you are not traumagenic, as the coiner has asked endogenic, tulpa and demo systems not to use it.
