A vicarian is a system member that acts on the desires of their headmates, or seeks out positive, satisfying or rewarding things because other members are unable to. These members may have something stopping them or holding them back, such as trauma or anxiety, but the vicarian is not affected by these barriers or is not affected as much. As a result, the headmates experience the acted-upon desires vicariously.[1]
