Origin"to abate"[1] [2]

A denial abater is a headmate whose primary function is to deal with denial.

A denial abater can act in different ways, like:

  • Pulling the headmate(s) experiencing denial out of front
  • Providing "proof" to contrast the denial to the headmate(s) experiencing denial.
  • Actively "arguing" with the headmate(s) in denial, offering logical explanations or debates.
  • Getting rid of the feelings and thoughts associated with denial altogether.

These strategies are temporary, and often only last as long as the abater in fronting or close to front. But in the long run may help lessen denial symptoms for specific headmates or the whole system.
