A double is a headmate that shares an identity with another headmate. Usually, this occurs in two ways:

  1. A headmate shares an identity with another system member (like two fictives of the same character, even if one is nonsimilous), either within the same system or from separate systems;
  2. A headmate based mostly/completely off of an existing system member (like a versiomate).

Doubles that share an introject identity may be considered sourcemates or variants.

Versiomates, pseudo-originals, or reiteratives may be considered doubles.

A headmate sourced from another system may be called an amitive.

If the source headmate is an Introject, the double may also be called a metaject.
