An Enkian (Enk- derived from the Greek word Enkyos meaning pregnant) headmate is an infant/child headmate that is split to represent the risk of getting pregnant in situations involving sexual and/or reproductive abuse. Enkian headmates may form from a pregnancy split, be natalgenic, or split on their own.

These headmates form when the brain believes it is pregnant as a consequence of sexual and/or reproductive abuse, but may or may not turn out to actually be pregnant. They form specifically from the stress of the idea of pregnancy in the system's situation.

These headmates are not inherently protectors and so they may find that they don't have a specific role at all as they were formed to represent a trauma to help the system heal rather than to help the system directly.
