Extragen, also known as extragenic, is an origin term / modifier for headmates who feel like they originated from outside of the system. This may be due to a sense that the shared body is not their own, or a feeling that the member "arrived" at the system somehow. They may feel as if the life of the system prior to their arrival is wholly or partly not theirs. This may extend to relationships between friends and family (e.g. feeling as if the parents of the body are not your parents but rather those of a friend or roommate).

Often times introjects, walk-ins, or other similar types of headmates may fit this label. Whether they identify as such is up to them.
Intragen may be considered an antonym.

The term was coined by Tumblr user theoliviaset on May 14th, 2022, with inspiration for the name by Twitter user We_Are_Sanjo.[1]
