A grief holder is a headmate who holds grief relating to death and loss. They can front to take grief from another member who has dissociated to the point of being unable to feel grief, or process it healthily. They may also come co-con with another member to allow them to grieve. This is considered a role.

A grief holder may also be a trauma holder if the grief they hold is traumatic, and/or a guilt holder if there are feelings of guilt associated with the grief.
A grief holder may be a type of emotion holder and/or emotional processor and may work together with cassmates or other headmates who are unable to work through intense feelings.
A mortemate may be a grief holder or have another member hold grief about their experiences.
