In mixed systems, facets coexist with multiple (or partitionary) headmates, and in some cases, floating facets.

Mediple systems are similar, being a system that is decidedly both median and multiple. However, mediple differs from mixed as the latter is only made up of median and multiple headmates, while mediple's entire system structure is a fusion of median and multiple.

A mixed system with 100+ headmates may be called polychimeric.
