Passive influence can be described as intrusions from headmates that are not currently prominent in the mind or using the body. Passive influences include made actions, made emotions, and made thoughts.[1][2][medical citation needed]

  • Emotion sharing and memory sharing similarly allow emotions and memories to carry between system members.
  • Bleedover is a term for the emotions, feelings, or thoughts of a headmate, that bleed over to the one(s) in front. Unlike passive influence, the member that stuff bleed from can be in front as well, but typically aren't.
  • Residue is a term for when a headmate that was fronting recently causes the headmate that fronts after them to unintentionally replicate their mannerisms.
