Variant refers to members of separate systems that are connected to the same "archetype", or to those systems. An archetype may be a source character or similar identity that is shared between those two members.

Example[edit | edit source]

System A and System B meet. They realise they both have an introject of Character Loki from Disney+ show. Loki A and Loki B are then Variants of each other, and of the Source Loki from Disney+.

If system A has a Loki introject from Mythology, and System B from Loki Show, then they may be considered Variant of the Archetypal Loki, who encompasses all Lokis.

Origin[edit | edit source]

The term is used in the Disney+ Show Loki, where different individuals are called Loki variants as they all share a strong connection with the Archetypal Loki, while having different enough life stories they are not Doubles nor Clones.

The term was coined for Systems by the Abrasax System in 2023.

Related Terms[edit | edit source]

This may be considered a specific type of double from another system, as well as a type of sourcemate in case of introject variants.
