A shardbound headmate is one that is connected to a cluster, shardcloud, or other group of fragments in some way without being part of that group. This may be due to the headmate carrying some of the shardcloud's fragments inside them, being the one best able to communicate with a cluster, or sharing an overarching theme.

Several headmates can be shardbound to the same cluster.
