An empty system is a previously plural person who, whilst having no headmates and being formed by only one member, has the capacity to be plural once more.[1]

Related Terms

An empty system can be caused by integration & fusion, all walk-ins leaving, or a system collapse. The individual left can re-split and become plural once more, or walk-ins can return.

Some systems go through cycles of fusing, sometimes to the point of only one headmate, and re-split.
